Review of Kamisama Kiss Season 2
Congratulations, you've found my number 1! Now, I'm a heavy fan of romance anime. There are plenty that I haven't seen, but I've watched dozens of these shows and have developed a very picky taste. So how does this one claim the top spot? See, most of these shows I rank based on how little they suck. I take my top 5 tropes that I hate the most, and if they're kept to a minimum then you get a show that scores high. In this case, though, such a review would be an injustice. Rather than a lack of suckiness, what we have here is anoverabundance of awesomeness.
Character development is always a big one for me, and this anime does it SO well. They grow so much, and their depth is real and relatable, and it all feels organic and genuine. The humor is another area where this show absolutely excels. It's fresh, it's smart, it's hilarious, it's everything it needs to be. The story is phenomenal; a true example of the innovative thinking that made me fall in love with anime in the first place. And to clarify: there's no element of nostalgia here. I found this show well into my anime journey, which just goes to show how good it is - I came to it without any bias. The animation is brilliant, the acting is spot on, everything is done wonderfully. Sure there are minor tropes that I probably could've lived without, but I honestly don't care. THIS is what all romance shows should aspire to be. THIS is peak anime entertainment.
Blessings be upon all who were involved in the making of this show. Full marks, 10/10, magnifique, bravo.
