Review of Astra Lost in Space
A mystery in space revolving around a bunch of children. Each episode tries to leave you with something to mule over until the next. It was real close to being a recommend for me, but unrealistic characters and decisions really took me out of it. The whole premise itself was a bit too much for me at the start. They are going alone to a planet for a few days as a class trip? I understand this is supposed to be a futuristic society, but even in current times a group of kids wouldn't be sent out to some remote area as a class bonding tripalone. There would be chaperones. If that was the only hick-up I could have recovered, but during the whole story decisions are made, and characters act in ways that make no sense for their situation. I'm not going to go into details, but the show even 4th wall breaks for a joke at some point, pointing out how this is a space drama/slapstick comedy. It's not a good combination, and undermines the dramatic part of the show for me.
Despite all that, I did watch it through to the end, since I wanted to know how things were resolved. The overall resolution/solution to the mystery was more interesting than I assumed it would be. The last episode really dragged, but maybe some would like that for extended closure. Overall if the stuff I mentioned doesn't sound like a big deal you'd probably enjoy the show a lot more, and should give it a shot.
