Review of Shiki
"Shiki" falls in its own category. Despite having some "too anime" character designs that don't fit with the most realistic ones in the same show (that dissonance can be really distracting sometimes), its story and music carry the cross all the way through, telling a disturbing, deeply touching, and urgent story of the darkest aspects of humanity. Don't let yourself be 'fooled' by the opening animation/s (sometimes I commit the mistake of letting myself judge a series for that), as it/they can look a little juvenile and generic. What you will find in of "Shiki" is anything but that. A little town in the middleof nowhere, a collection of too-believable characters, something strange happening, now, a mystery to resolve, crisis of faith, questions of what makes us human (apart from demons themselves)... all that and more await in a show that more than entertainment I can compare to the best auteur TV, with a message very worth investing your time for.
