I was excited to watch Ano Natsu de Matteru, because it looked like I would like the characters, and even though the plot seemed boring, I decided to give it a chance. But, to me, it was a disappointment. The only reason I even decided to finish the series was because of how hilarious and entertaining one of the supporting characters was. And for that reason only. STORY: It's boring, I'll admit. There isn't much going on. The only thing "going on" is the fact that it's about a group of high schoolers stuck in the midst of a massive love triangle. You know, the whole: sheloves him, but he loves someone else, and that someone else is in love with another person, and that other person is in love with some alien chick. After about 2 episodes, it's pretty easy to determine who is 'crushing' on whom. But what surprised me the most about the whole plot is that we actually got some confessions every couple of episodes, instead of the writers waiting until the last episode and making everyone break down and confesses to their love against the picturesque sunset backdrop. That's one thing I was happy with about this plot.

But, still, the plot is lackluster. After a few episodes, I found myself saying, "Ugh, come on!" And then finally around episode 8 or 9 we get some motion going, but it's kind of too convenient, in my opinion. All of a sudden, we have a dangerous situation that gets resolved in a "oh wow, that's convenient" manner...

All around, plot could have been better and needed some more motion to pick up that feel of dragging feet.

CHARACTERS:
I loved most of the characters. The main guy, Kaito, is as loveable as a fluffy teddy bear that was rolling around in chocolate; and all the other supporting characters each had their own loveable personalities and quirks, which made me really enjoy their presence on the screen. Especially Remon, the suspicious upperclassman who pretty much forces her way into the group of friends, and takes over the roll of making the summer movie. She is the sole reason why I continued this series, because her antics are so highly entertaining.

But then there is the main girl, Ichika. Oh, how she annoyed me. It's probably just me and my own personality clashing against hers, but she is the main reason why I did not like this series. Pretty much, if you do not like her, then you will not like this show, because who ends up with whom depended on her and her indecisive ways. Further more, she's one of those characters who finds it appealing to constantly apologize for everything that she does, which just added to my dislike of her.

All around, loved the main guy and the supporting characters; hated the "heroine" of the story.

SOUND:
The opening was okay. I only listened to it once and then skipped through it for the rest of the episodes. The chorus was slightly catchy, but nothing fantastic. The soundtrack was nothing memorable, either. Just some relaxing background music that played up the motionlessness of the whole show, in my opinion. I loved the ending, however. Very soothing and catchy. I always looked forward to hearing it at the end of an episode, which is the main point of an ending, am I right? It closed out the episodes quite nicely, if I do say so myself.

OVERALL:
Like I said earlier, this series disappointed me. If the main girl had been more likeable, then I probably would have enjoyed this series more. But I just couldn't. Furthermore, the plot was lacking, and in the end, nothing is really resolved except everyone has a broken heart but they're hiding it like pros. The only reason this gets a 7 is because of one of the supporting characters, which I think speaks volumes about how little I enjoyed this show.

While I sound like I absolutely hated this show, I did not. It does have some cute and adorable moments, and I don't feel like I just wasted several hours of my life. However, it's flaws outweighed those cute moments, in my opinion, and overall I would not watch this series again.

Long live Remon.
