Review of Hunter x Hunter
Hunter x Hunter is pretty much the best anime I've seen so far, I know it's not for everyone, but it was the best for me (I've seen a LOT of anime). Hunter x Hunter is very original and it even inspired Masashi Kishimoto to make Naruto. Also, for all the people saying it had a bad ending, it's not even finished. Don't trust them if they can't get their facts straight. Togashi, the creator, is suffering from back pain and is currently on hiatus until he recovers. Anyways, on to the show itself. The arcs are really good and unique in their way. My personalfavorite was the Yorknew City arc because it gave us a good atmosphere and setting that we could easily get used to. I don't have much else to say, but the arcs are great.
The soundtrack is amazing (I'm talking about the background music). You can easily hum along because there isn't an overwhelming amount of themes but there aren't too little. They're beautiful and I can tell they put a lot of work on it, and they always fit the mood whether it's a tragic moment or an exciting and uplifting scene.
The openings and endings are memorable, and whenever you hear them you automatically know they're from hxh. Also, once you listen to them over and over again it never gets tiring and sometimes you can even sing along and learn the lyrics by listening alone.
The characters are all very unique and are driven by different motives that are understandable and not just dumb or badly written. Hisoka is one of the most unique characters in anime (IMO) because of his style and the way he acts. Also, the main focus isn't on Gon. Gon is the protagonist, it goes without saying that he gets enough screentime. However, all the characters are given a backstory and they're not just supporting characters either. They don't just support Gon and his journey but they support themselves and other characters as well. That's the great part about it. The characters aren't immediately strong, but they develop their powers and learn about new things like nen and all the basic nen techniques and types, while we also learn and have an understanding as well. We're never confused when it comes to those things.
The fights are not only intriguing and interesting, but the people fighting also strategize and have the will to beat their opponent. It isn't only about brute force.
There are a few things to take note of, like for example, there are partial nudity and mild cursing, but that's all there is towards viewer discretion. My brother didn't really want to watch it at first, but when he started watching it more and more he loved it and even started recommending it to our neighbors, and he'd also watch it all the time. I've rewatched it about 5 times and I haven't gotten bored. It serves as a great background if you drawing or doing work (in my experience).
It isn't overrated, but it's not underrated. Overall, this is an amazing anime and I recommend you watch it, 100 billion percent (that was a Dr. Stone reference by the way ^.^).
