Review of Kiss x Sis (TV)

KissXSis. The title alone is already a sign of attraction. Many know this anime even if you haven't watched it; i've known people that somehow watched this "anime" when they were kids... I wouldn't blame them, afterall there's a strong synopsis about it. After the death of his mother, Suminoe Keita, our main protagonist, is paired with a new mother and 2 sisters or in this case, stepsisters which in this anime, is a word you're going to hear a lot. Keita's objective is to pass his entrance exam for highschool..but it won't be an easy task due to everybody he knows being a pervert andwasting his time.

For an ecchi style of anime, thats a solid backstory but the end product is poorly executed. The screentime between Keita and his sisters is always the same boring formula: the sisters do funny lewd accident, Keita gets attracted to them and plays with them, he gets angry(sometimes) because they wasted his time and then they get sad and to cheer him up they do..more sexual play and everything ends fine. However, there are some highlights to it, when they get attacked, Keita is always there to protect them and sometimes theres short views back to the past which i find quite heart warming. There's lots of scenes where "drama" is present, there was only one good scene at the end of the series where its well done but the rest of the so called drama is all because one girl showed her panties in the hall room..then it procedes to insert a random unfunny joke 5 seconds later. There's absolutely no character development, everybody is a perverted mess who is always clinging onto Keita like he is god himself and it starts to get old very quickly. Though in its right, the character's aren't too terrible. I quite liked the teacher and her otaku behaviour while also trying to get Keita into "the path of good" and Keita's parents, despite clearly not deserving to be parents due to their carefree attitudes in the entire series, are funny as hell.
Though, if they deleted Miharu and Mikazuki, it wouldnt make a diffrence..all they do is fill the plot and serve are more unfunny lewd jokes.

Art is quite alright for 2010, nothing really stands out but its vibrant with its colors which something that the characters benifit from. Sure its character design but i really think each one of them looks very good specially Keita, he looks like the kind of guy i'd want to meet. Animation is okay...it only gets worse in the soft hentai scenes but if its regular school scenes, its pretty good. The OP and the EP are good, quite catchy even...however thats the best of music you will ever hear. There's tons of "sexual" music throught the episodes which could have been much much better, nothing gets you excited or is relatable to the scene.

Should you watch this series is really up to you. If you'd like to see how the sisters try to tease our MC, go ahead and do so..but prepare to be dissapointed. This anime could have been much more interesting if everyone we met wasn't stupid.
