Review of Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
Ano Hana is about a group of friends who get estranged after a incident which happened during their childhood. It revolves around the theme of friendship and love, developing these emotions thoroughly with its nice art and amazing music. This anime has an impactful story that reveals certain emotions to the watchers. I feel as though as the plot unfolds, the story drags me into it more and more. It displays human nature of being selfish but yet wanting to help others and while this may seem to split the group of children apart, it eventually brings them together as teenagers. For the characters, instead ofdeveloping them, it seems as if the true nature of these group of people were brought out. From their selfish reasons for their actions, they slowly open up to each other soothing their guilt and making up for the past time when they hid away from each other and themselves. At the end of the day, the love this group felt about each other had not actually gone away and instead was rediscovered? (maybe more like revealed).
If I were to list some faults in Ano Hana, I think its that a couple of the characters weren't developed enough and not much of the supernatural stuff were completely explained. It probably would have killed the anime if the reason for the reappearance of Homna was explained over loads of episodes. The shortness and sweetness made the whole anime extremely enjoyable.
In total, I loved this anime. I cried for pretty much 23 minutes straight in the ending. I feel that its overwhelming with emotions and the happiness an sadness I felt about the relations between these characters really overcame me and overdid itself for not such a long series.
