Review of Recovery of an MMO Junkie
I had my expectations for this anime pretty low and for someone who hasn't watched anime for a while, it was a big surprise. Honestly, this is a solid anime. I'll try get to the point with my review though. Story: The story follows Morioka Moriko, a 30 year old recently turned NEET who just wants to play MMO's for the rest of her life. She meets Lily another more experienced player online and their relationship as friends starts to blossom. Now my initial thoughts were that, oh wait it's gonna be like other types of virtual animes I've watched and to some extent it is.But the fact that we're dealing with an older character and older characters interacting with her, it makes this anime much more enjoyable. That doesn't mean it escapes the cliches of romance anime, for example a misunderstanding being exaggerated but If I look at this from an adults perspective these cliches don't really bother me as much. I like how the anime bridges the two worlds of virtual and real life seamlessly, it doesn't feel like it's unnatural and in fact I genuinely feel it's realistic to some extent. I'll give the story a solid 8 out of 10.
Art: I'm not too well versed on art, but I think it generally looked good. I never ever saw any muckups with animation or any lack of effort on it. I like the OP animation a lot though. 7/10
Sound: The OP and ED for this anime is sooo goood. I love it. Sound is generally is pretty good, the voice actors did a pretty good job, as their respective characters. 8/10
Character: I loved Moriko's character so much. The two sides of her being her quiet shy side and her passionate, carefree and cheerful side are great to watch. I don't really want to spoil much of her. The support characters are good too, but Moriko as the MC is really solid. 9/10
Enjoyment: I truly enjoyed this anime up to this point and I can't wait to watch the last episode soon. I hope there is another season of this. 8/10
Overall: I give this anime an 8/10. This was a big surprise and I enjoyed this a lot. Go give it a watch.
(I'm gonna update this review at a later point because I feel like I could have written this much better.)
