I'm not overly familiar with Punisher's character, but I would say he brought a lot of darkness into this film: the action had more violence to it than usual, although it was still kept mostly off-screen for the sake of this title being aimed at a younger generation. While the story was entertaining, I wasn't overly fond of Black Widow's portrayal in this one. Her being one of the titular characters, that was a real downer for me, personally - not to speak of the somewhat unconventional, unnecessary romantic element that should have worked, but felt a little flat and one-dimensional despite the life they triedto breathe into it.

An appearance from the other Avengers was a nice touch, for sure.
