Review of Sword Art Online
Episodes 14-25—CW: Sexual assault, stalking The first half of this series was really good. It was interesting and I liked the characters. It also had a relatively unfamiliar plot idea and had some really good world-building. The second half of the first arc I was intrigued and there was a lot of good build-up and plot development at the beginning. Asuna was a fascinating, amazing character and she's finally a woman anime character who didn't have enormous boobs and wasn't fetishized. The second half was good, but a bit slow. It was light on the action and heavy on character interactions which I don't mind either. Theending of it was a bit anti-climatic, but I still think it was a good go.
The second arc I would never watch again. There was very graphic sexual assault and Nobuyuki Sugō is a creep who deserves to be arrested on more than just cyber crimes. Asuna no longer seemed like a 3-dimensional character as she and her pain were used as a plot point for two male characters power struggle.
