Review of Tsukigakirei
Definitely one of the best school-life, romance animes ever. I had never watched a school romance anime until coming across this masterpiece. I have a list of my personal top list of romance anime and Tsuki ga Kirei is definitely one of the few on the top of my list. One of the best things about this story is how original the plot is, how it gets straight to the point. At the start we are introduced with our 2 main protagonists, who will eventually fall in love and become a couple. They are just 2 students in their last year of junior high, aboutto move on in life and go to high school. Their relation starts with the usual awkwardness, shyness and anxiety between 2 teenagers of the opposite sex. As the story progresses, we are able to see how they are able to try and surpass these issues. I definitely feel that this anime is so enjoyable because many of us can relate to them, and how they feel. Another thing I really enjoyed and was grateful for was that even though there were love triangles, the plot doesn't expand much on that and mainly focuses on the main relation between the 2 teenagers, Akane and Koutarou. There were no typical anime 'cliches' and was just a simple romance story about 2 normal teenagers.
The anime had decent visual artwork, and the music and songs were great too, with many of the soundtracks coming in at the right moment in the story to produce a masterpiece for many of us to enjoy. The characters were well developed and even the extra, secondary characters added some atmosphere to the story.
The only thing that I really felt disappointed about was that I felt the ending was a bit rushed. I would have enjoyed a second season or even an OVA to let the audience understand what happened to them later on in life and let us truly say goodbye to the 2.
Overall I felt that this was a truly outstanding anime and definitely deserves a 9/10. However, if you aren't looking for any romance stories and looking for action or anything different, I wouldn't suggest this anime for you.
