I mean, it's alright... but that's it? Dandadan just cannot be taken too seriously. It's enjoyable to watch - it's good but not great. If you have really high expectations because of the hype surrounding it, you will be left disappointed. If your expectations are low and you want to sign-in for a hatewatch, it's not bad, you may like it. Dandadan must be watched for what it really is: a fun, dumb, comical show, which sometimes leans into mature scenarios or stories. These contrasts help to shape the story and its characters, and that "wide range of tone settings" help to establish very early that Dandadan wantsto be more than a comedy.

- Story: 7/10
- Totally unserious

The plot is not that original, nor really interesting but comical. This first season feels more like a very long pilot because it ended unceremoniously in the middle of an arc after several characters were introduced. All we have to do is wait for season 2.

- Characters: 9/10
- Likeable but cliché

The characters are cool, funny, likeable, and the relationship between them shaped a very standard romcom setting around the unserious story. With that said, the characters are also very cliché, not so original, but are correctly implemented into the show to make it as appealing as it is.

- Visual: 8/10
- Not bad, not outstanding, personally disappointing.

The visuals are great, but not excellent. I saw the opening which was released before the show and I thought "This looks good, innovative, maybe the production in this anime will dare to bring something new into the animation industry?" - Nope, absolutely not, and this is what disappointed me the most when I picked it up. The animation is flat good, coherent, just on point.

- Audio: 8/10
- Same as visuals

At least the production teams made sure to be consistent with the art across the show. The sound effects and music are standard, there's nothing crazy around going on. The music is used to accompany the action or set the tone on serious/comic scenes, but it does not elevate it.

- Overall enjoyment: 8/10

It is worth to give it a try.
