tl;dr: If you don't like braindead protagonists taking away your joy of watching otherwise good production, watch 2021 live action movie Tokyo Revengers. So, at first I fell in love with the setting, cast and the whole idea of changing the past by joining and slowly taking control of so called "Tokyo Manji Gang". Visuals (Mikey's hair, Toman's dress design) and audio were top notch too. ...But Takemichi as a protagonist ruined it for me. I understand that he was designed as a fail of a man and that returning back to the childhood and acting appropriate isn't easy, but come on, he doesn't even try to improve.Apart from that one or two heroic stands he's still useless piece of time traveler, who succeds not because he has knowledge of the future or plans ahead (spoiler: in most cases, he's not even invested enough to memorize faces of people who will fuck up his life in the future) but because some supporting character always offer his help and saves the day.

The second thing that ruined the show for me was artificially lengthening anime by adding 2-3 minute long episode Summaries and then adding a ton of flashbacks or pointless main protagonists thoughts, monologues or dialogues.
At one point, the 4-page manga scene was adapted to 5 minutes of crying, screaming and uselessness of the main character in a situation where his friend's life was in danger. Because why not make him even more of an idiot than he already is.

That said, I am very impressed with the design of most of the side characters, complex relationships between gangs and overall flow of the story. I would gladly give this anime 8 out of 10 stars if not for Takemichi and cheap-ass lenghthening techniques.
