Hana to Hina wa Houkago is a very average lesbian love story, but in the best possible ways. Hana to Hina wa Houkago is what happens when, despite there being nothing particularly spectacular about a work, it executes all of its average ideas so well that it ends up being far better than it has a right to be. Hana to Hina wa Houkago does not break any major ground and it isn't the most amazing piece of art that I've ever experienced. What Hana to Hina wa Houkago is, is a manga that knows exactly what it wants to be and tells a relentlesslycute (albeit a bit angsty) teenage love story between two girls. If you want a really good but just "normal" shoujo ai/yuri story to read, Hana to Hina wa Houkago is a phenomenal place to look.
