Summer Ghost · review
I've watched the anime adaptation of Summer Ghost multiple times and picked up the manga in hopes of filling in the gaps left by the short film, particularly to learn more about the characters. And I was pleasantly surprised in more ways than one. The manga takes its time with each character, exploring their struggles in greater depth and expanding on plot points that were only briefly touched upon in the anime. The character designs are even more refined here, and the overall art style is detailed and expressive. The true strength of the manga lies in its well-developed characters. What the anime could only hint at dueto time constraints, the manga explores with a depth that’s genuinely impressive. You can really feel the characters’ emotions. It offers a thoughtful and sensitive portrayal of different perspectives on death and the afterlife.
I highly recommend Summer Ghost, not only for its beautiful and stylish artwork, but especially for the emotional depth of its characters.
