Tashiro-kun, Why're You Like This? · review
It's not that often we see a gag sitcom-esque BL, and I think this is a good offering. While the story starts off with a pretty commonplace scenario, the execution quickly sets itself apart from many of its peers. I do have some critiques; mainly that I think the MC's tsundere-ness is a bit too much, too inflexible, too lacking growth especially in the first two volumes. Also that the story generally treats the otakus as a visual punchline, which is kind of sad considering how much of the narrative is built upon otaku culture. But everything else is entertaining enough. The slapstick humor is cute andeven hilarious at times. The interactions and budding romance between the main characters feel nice, especially for the kind of gag manga it's trying to be.
The manga goes a bit more BL-like in the third and fourth volume, especially when the second couple starts going off in full blast, but I appreciate that the narrative still manages to balance the gag and the BL side of the story.
And I enjoy seeing ML's sister. I think she's a good antagonist-that-is-not-really-an-antagonist.
