Farewell, My Odin · review
(Solely based off Volume 1/Chapters 1-4) Simply put, holy shit. For such a new plus unknown mangaka to have created a work that is not only extremely investing, with a commanding aura of supreme confidence, profoundly badass, and magnetically compelling; but also has earned endorsement from the creator of one of the most critically acclaimed current era manga (Vinland Saga) is… I think pretty unheard of, right? "Farewell, My Odin" embodies and channels the spirit of peak seinen manga, particularly the brutal and atmospheric manner in which it tells the familiar revenge trope. Every page oozes such a desperate and raw feeling of aggression that is impossibleto look past, and somehow it finds room for goofy moments amid the intensity…
Absolutely a must-read for fans of the genre considering its short length, unfortunately the series is not yet widely available (other than Japanese and Spanish), however it’s quite easy to tell the wait for just two more volumes will be totally worth it!
