Review of Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
A very emotional anime many friends and my girlfriend have been recommending to me. I gotta admit that the first three episodes were so-so and I was starting to wonder if the series was worth completing but I kept going and thank god I did. Anohana is a very beautiful series about a group of childhood friends trying to move on after one of the members of the group, a little girl called Menma, dies in an accident. Several years after her death, Menma starts to appear before the protagonist, a guy named Jintan who tries to fulfill a wish Menma had so she can goto heaven.
The art is excellent, just like the voice-acting and especially the soundtrack. If you take out the first three episodes, the narrative is quite good and will manage to keep you interested during the entire story. Without going to any spoilers, I have to mention that the ending is extremely emotional to the point where I, a 28-year-old male, cried quite a bit. So even if you somehow don't feel very attached to the story or characters, give the series an opportunity.
