Neon Genesis Evangelion is definitely a fantastic experience overall, whilst it may be kind of confusing there's no denying it's a classic and it really does feel like one when you're watching it. I'm not totally sure I even have that much to say but I'll get into some aspects I liked - Firstly the art, this is the first "old" anime that I've watched and the 4:3 ratio was pretty interesting, but the art is so incredibly unique and really does still hold up all these years later. There are some crazy good shots and overall everything just feels so real and alive which isan effect you don't see a lot in anime nowadays. The animation as well is really really good for the time.

I really did enjoy the cast of characters, going into this I knew a lot of people didn't like Shinji but I did which was reassuring. There wasn't really a character I disliked, they all played their part in the plot well and had their quirks about them that made them all interesting. I think the dialogue between them all felt really natural and was fun to listen to.

I will mention that there was a fair amount that confused me and that I didn't follow, especially towards the end (last couple eps mostly). I have heard this is the general consensus however and I will probably look at some explained videos to help with this. Either way this doesn't take much away from my enjoyment of the show as the general gist of it was pretty easy to follow.

In conclusion I think NGE is really a must watch, there's no doubting it's a classic and it's really engrossing. Pretty much every aspect is good, the art, soundtrack, plot, characters etc. but like I mentioned my main gripe was how confusing it could get at times.
