Review of Black Lagoon
Black lagoon was one of the first real anime's I ever watched. Needless to say, I very much enjoyed it, but it's not perfect. Nevertheless, it's a good, solid anime with plenty of humor and tons of action. I like this series regardless of its flaws. Story: Black lagoon is a crime anime. Crime and illegal activities are its central theme, which to me is an original idea. There are about 4 major chunks to the story and all of them were good, but the main theme of the show is its action, so some of you may feel the story isn't anything special. Art: The artis very good. Explosions look vibrant, environments are detailed and character designs are excellent.
Sound: I didn't very much like the music. The opening theme is epic, but the OST was just lacking in many areas for me.
Character: Character development is good. My favorite character in the series is definitely Revy, she is absolutely hilarious and completely awesome. However, there are some characters which have little to no development at all such as Benny. I would have loved for him to be a little more central to the story. All in all the characters are good.
Enjoyment: The action scenes are thrilling to watch. Everything is put together perfectly when action occurs. I also enjoyed the jokes and frequent cursing. They made me laugh on many occasions. I highly enjoyed the action and humor in this series the most.
Overall, I give black lagoon a solid 7. It's a good anime and I enjoyed it. However, my biggest complaint is that at times it tries to be all dark and edgy. I would have very much preferred if it didn't try to be something it's not in this regard. But it's a good series either way.
