Monster Marriage Shop · review

Monster Marriage Shop offers the reader a very interesting idea, and then completely fails to deliver on that idea. The author tells us one thing and then shows us something completely different. We are TOLD that the main character is a genius matchmaker who has helped dozens or hundreds of couples find love. We are TOLD that the does not date his clients. However, we are SHOWN the exact opposite. For over half of the story, almost every new character that shows up is a new, cute monster girl. The Main Character fails to find her a match. Then she joins his harem. They always either fall inlove with him, fall in love with other girls in the harem, or both. It always results in them moving into the house and remaining single. Most of them remain single until the end of the story.

Around 75% of Monster Marriage Shop is dedicated to the main character building his harem and interacting with the girls in his harem, or his romance with the female lead. If you want Generic Harem Slop, well, this is moderately cute and funny, and it doesn't shy away from showing nudity or ecchi stuff. So you might be happy if that's all you are looking for.

If you are looking for a story about Matchmaking, I would avoid this story. You will only get more and more disappointed as the narrative goes on.

Only about 25% of the story is actually about matchmaking. Over half of the proposed couples either do not end up together, or end in tragedy. After that, out of the few characters that end up getting married, the Main Character is almost never involved in the situation. Usually there's some drama, the character runs away, then they realize something on their own (or with the help of someone other than the MC) and get married offscreen. Without the help of the supposed genius matchmaker.

Monster Musume Shop truly, genuinely, fails to live up to the expectations of the reader in almost every single possible way.

It's almost astounding at how completely it fails to tell the story it said it was going to tell.

Also, the ending is pretty nonsensical and unsatisfying.

To reiterate and summarize; This is ONLY worth reading if you are looking for generic Harem comedy with good ecchi elements. In that regard, it's fine.
