I enjoyed this collection by Jiraiya because it reflects many elements of gay bear culture and celebrates big, hairy, masculine men in a confident and expressive way. The book contains several short stories, each exploring different situations and relationships between strong male characters. While some of the stories can feel a bit predictable, I still enjoyed them because I like this genre and the type of characters Jiraiya is known for. The art style fits the stories very well. Jiraiya’s drawings are bold and detailed, especially when it comes to body types and expressions. His style really emphasizes the strength, size, and masculinity of the characters, which is a big part of the appeal for fans of bara and bear-themed stories.
The characters are not extremely deep, but they each have their own personalities and motivations. They show different attitudes such as confidence, desire, jealousy, and vulnerability. Because the stories are short, the focus is more on the interactions and dynamics rather than very complex character development.
The reactions of the characters feel believable within the world of the story. The situations are exaggerated at times, but the emotions and tensions between the characters still feel natural.
I think fans of bara manga and people who appreciate bear culture will enjoy this series a lot. However, readers who are not familiar with this genre may find it too explicit or niche. Overall, it’s a strong example of Jiraiya’s work and shows why he is considered an important artist in this style of manga.
