Review of World Trigger
World Trigger is more than a decade old now (its first 73 episodes are from 2014, the second series came in 2021 and the third series came in 2022) and it is still brilliantly fresh. Firstly, it has a story that is generic as can be: there are exoplanetary attackers on a Japanese city, some Earth forces called Border based on that city defend the planet against these invaders called the “Neighbours.” The main character Osamu Mikumo, his protégée Chika, his Neighbour friend Yūma Kuga become part of the Border and fight against the Neighbour attacks along with many other brilliant supporting characters who surprisinglyhave depth.
The series is well written, the visuals are above-average especially for the period, there are several episodes that end in such a cliffhanger that you automatically continue to another episode, the characters are well written, in-depth, and as there are quite a few episodes, there is room for every supporting character to have their own side-stories. The music is alright, and that they have the opening credits in the 10 to 12 minutes mark instead of in the very beginning is a nice detail and the opening credits change every 24 episodes. In addition to battles, competition, and a look into self-growth the series also has a great angle over friendship and solidarity.
I highly recommend this series.
