Review of Saekano the Movie: Finale

I'd like to start by explaining why i rate this as highly as i do. The harem genre is something i rarely get involved with - the main reason for that is because from the few harem anime i did watch, they never got anywhere in terms of romance. When i found this series, the main thing that got my attention was this movie, particularly the "Finale" part. Finally, i could witness the "end-game" of one! It's impossible to talk about this movie without at least mentioning the previous seasons, even tho in a way this has very little in common with the way thestory and characters were at the start of the journey. Let's not beat around the bush, the first season is pretty much your typical harem anime where they just dance around one another, not much to say about it. However, the things started moving much better in the second season. The characters showed growth, they stopped being just objects revolving around the main character. And that leads us to the movie here.
It's pointless to talk about stuff like animation, music, character design and such, they were very good in the previous seasons and are even better this time - to be expected for a movie (probably had a higher budget than both seasons combined). So all that's left is the story and the characters- and this is where this transcends the typical "harem" tag and goes fully into the romance genre. I may be a bit biased because Megumi is my favorite girl, and in the end i would've been happy if he ended up with any of the others too. But this is the thing - the story ends with Tomoya and Megumi graduating, moving together, opening a game studio and being happy together. From episode 1 to this, it turned from "just another harem anime" to "THE harem anime" that i can proudly recommend to anyone who's reluctant to give this genre a try!
