Houseki no Kuni, or Land of the Lustrous, is an anime that is top 5 for me. It absolutely flew under the radar in terms of hype and acknowledgement, party due to the fact it's "one of the strange 3D CGI animes", but trust me, after a few episodes you begin to really enjoy the animation. The story is unique, pulling a lot from buddhist foundations and the music and sound effects are phenomenal. The soundtrack is unique and doesn't compare much to other anime's I've seen. Even though there isn't a second season to be released, I believe this is a series that needsit (said by every anime fan, ever lol), but really, the ending really doesn't do it justice. I see this series as more of a long ad for the manga... and it did a great job at it too. You better believe I went to the manga and read it front to back. I love the story even more after reading the volumes out currently. Here's my final conclusion; watch at least a few episodes. You'll begin to not be bothered so much by the art, and really appreciate it for its characters and story. You won't be disappointed.
