Review of Tsukigakirei
*First time writing a review* So here I was, 2am on a Sunday, day before school. I had around 5 hours left before I had to get up and get ready. I was thinking to myself that maybe I should sleep, however, I didn't want to. I was really in the mood to watch an amazing romance anime, one that would connect with me on an emotional level and then leave me happy the day after. I was looking through different anime's and then I found Tsuki ga Kirei. What seemed like the perfect anime. I'll tell you right now, I was right. Story - 10/10 What made Tsuki gaKirei so amazing was that it wasn't the same as your everyday romance anime. There was no pointless drama and harem's. This was clear cut and right to the chase. It focussed on two people, and only those two people.
Now of course there was some drama, however it wasn't pointless. It was used to build up the characters and progress through their relationship.
The story beginning to end was magnificent. There really was no gaps, and just watching Tsuki ga Kirei felt magical. You suddenly become carefree and you can leave all your worries aside for 5 hours.
Most anime's have a great build up but then the ending leaves us hanging and wanting more closure. However, the ending for Tsuki ga Kirei was well thought out and satisfied the viewers. Unlike most anime's, it didn't leave a hole in my chest.
Art - 9/10
I first watched the trailer for Tsuki ga Kirei before watching the anime. From the trailer I thought the art style was a bit weird. It was nothing like your typical anime. This left me intrigued, I wanted to watch it even more, especially after reading the synopsis.
I would have to say the art style was quite unique when it comes to anime and it really did it's job in the long run.
Sound - 9/10
The sound of the anime was great. All the sound effects were clear, and there was nothing wrong with the voice acting.
The opening and ending songs were pretty enjoyable as well.
Character - 9/10
The main characters of the anime were great. They were consistently developing throughout the anime. By the end of the last episode you can tell the journey they have been through required a lot of work and effort.
When it comes to the side characters, I think some of them could have developed slightly more, especially the one's closest to the main characters. However, some people enjoy focussing only on the main characters throughout the story, which can be enjoyable as well.
Enjoyment - 10/10
Not much to say here except that it was amazing. It is one of the anime's that I have enjoyed the most. It really connects to your emotions and has you always wanting to watch more.
The ending was well developed as well. So, as I said before, you won't be left with a hole in your chest.
Overall - 10/10
Taking everything into account, I think that when it comes to romance anime, Tsuki ga Kirei was a masterpiece. It is high up there with every other romance anime. It might not reach Kimi no na wa's detail and development when it comes to the Art and Sound, however it was still amazing.
If you're looking for actual romance, not harem's and tons of drama, then Tsuki ga Kirei might be for you.
