Review of The Heroic Legend of Arslan
This anime is forever going to be one of my favorites. Mind you, I started watching it from the very beginning with very high expectations because, well, Hiromu Arakawa. Then I realized that it was more similar to Fullmetal Alchemist not only in art but in terms of the story than I initially thought. Though it is a remake of a series of OVA which was based off a novel, this new version is a much crisper, much more dynamic anime than its predecessor. The characters are very enjoyable – both in their design and the way they evolve throughout the story. Particularly Narsus andDaryun, who are both amazing in their own ways (and funny as well). My only critique is the over-sexualization of some female characters (namely, Farangis and the Queen of Pars), but what can you do? It's anime.
The soundtrack is absolutely fantastic – the OST and the OP/ED songs are all very enjoyable to listen to.
Overall, I think Arslan Senki has lots of potential for season 2 and I cannot wait for it to come out whenever it does. If you like adventure animes were friendship tends to save the day more often than not, this is a must-see.
