Review of The Rising of the Shield Hero

I really enjoyed The Rising of the Shield Hero. I found Naofumi to be a pretty relatable character and enjoyed the interaction between him, Raphtalia and the rest of his party. I see a lot of people who say it's just another isekai, and I will straight up say I haven't seen many isekai as I'm just getting back into anime, but there is a lot in this show to love I think if you don't look at it just at a surface level. The themes of self-doubt, mental health, paranoia and distrust as well as some of the light political elements are fun andinteresting.

I'd say the biggest disappointment for me is some of the plot writing. I won't get into spoilers but some stuff later on that isn't character related felt like a little bit of a let down. Who knows, maybe more is said later on/in the light novels?

Great show. Definitely a personal favorite though I don't think I can call it a masterpiece.
