Gun Gale Online has been sitting on my Netflix queue for a while, having enjoyed the original SAO and sequel which gave us this firearm friendly story arc. Some of the manga has been on my shelf as well, for little over a year now, and I started reading it the other day. Manga's going well but I just had to jump on and finally view this series. So what's my take on it? Loved it! So I'm a gun lover myself and have played hundreds of hours in first and third person action shooters, so I'm more intrigued by GGO thanAlfhiem as far as game worlds within the SAO franchise. The variety of weaponry featured is extensive and goes beyond even Call of Duty offerings. Seeing the actual military unit using FALs was pretty cool.

I love the main character of Karen/LLenn. The contrast of a young woman with a complex about her height playing as a pint sized avatar (and kicking ass) was very endearing. I loved her fighting style of don't stop moving and mag dump everything. Miyu/Fukaziroh was hilarious, seeing her running around with a pair of MGLs was like a comedic Revy with high explosives.
Won't spoil anything, but Pitohui is cra-ZEEE. Her and M both, but Pito especially.

The pacing is somewhat faster than the manga; we jump right into the first Squad Jam combat and M's mansplaining dialogue is cut way down so everything moves at a good click. The story rounds up fairly quickly in twelve episodes, and we do get some insight into a few other players, most notably the younger girls of Shinc.

So all I have to complain about is that was over too fast. I enjoyed GGO, both in game and out, but I wanted to see more. Yeah maybe Pitohui may not actually have learned anything at the end, but (spoilers) she's still young. Otherwise I had fun and I'll gladly watch this again.
