Review of Steins;Gate 0
Expected this to be a masterpiece, even though I knew almost nothing of the Steins;Gate 0 visual novel. To start, I knew MAGES had a really good visual novel, Steins;Gate, and it was well-rounded enough that the background story surrounding Steins;Gate 0 was already written before even concluding it. I think they did an excellent job, but they played it a little too safe. Nothing huge happened. Nothing impactful happened. All that I can deduce from Steins;Gate 0 is that it could have been funded for two 25 episode seasons in order to explore its world. More fun things could have happened during that timeand also the backstory could have been enhanced for the audience to understand what was going behind the scenes. Yes, the Steins;Gate 0 anime is just a rushed VN adaptation and we all know that right? Well, that's just my take on what could have been. As I've said, it was good but not as shocking as the first Steins;Gate. In more positive words, I especially liked Steins;Gate 0 because of Maho Hiyajo, the openings and endings, and episode 23. All in all, MAGES had one chance in writing a good prequel to Steins;Gate, as well as WHITE FOX did for the anime. I congratulate both.
