Review of Wonder Egg Priority: My Priority
Wow. That episode (and it was a 20 minute episode) was one of the worst conclusions that I've ever seen. It was so bad that it invoked so little emotion that it wasn't even unsatisfying. It was just bad. The last few episodes of the main series already seemed to have came out of nowhere, but it seemed to have been setting up *something* at the very least. This final episode throws away any and all setup that was established in those episodes, and pulls out plot twists as if it were perfectly normal. Aside from throwing out any and all setup, the conflict in thisepisode wasn't even resolved in the slightest.
I know that there have been many reviews complaining about loose ends. I think that loose ends in an ending is fine, if done right. Except it wasn't done right at all. Not only did the story not receive a proper ending, but the theme didn't receive a concussion either. None of the girls receive a conclusion with the emotions and conflict that they were dealing with at, instead, they just randomly without reason move on, despite one of the main themes of the show was how these girls dealt with loss.
Even if the episode was setting up for a second season, it failed even in this regard. It doesn't wrap up the arc at all, it doesn't hint at any major change in the story. The hook for the second season was simply that the anime just didn't resolve anything at all, which is lazy storywriting at best.
