Review of Dan Da Dan

It's fun. It's dumb. I got kind of bored with it. The high point of the show is a sequence where this animation is wonderfully blended with emotion to tell a story about the loss of a mother. That's the only real emotion in the whole series. That probably should have been an animated short because it felt so different from every other second of the show. There's a couple of other excellently animated actions sequences. The intro is great. I love the art and music. I never skipped it. The other high point of the show. There's not much else to this show at this point. Maybe therewill be more to it when they release the next 12 episodes. I'm not sure there's enough character or plot to critique beyond noting their absence.

The show never figures out anything else to do with its characters or story. Like a Michael Bay or Zach Snyder film, the endless action offers diminishing returns and begins to feel lifeless no matter how wonderful the animation.
