Horimiya is a great romcom anime that unfortunately gets lost in the sauce in the second half, as the anime starts to divide the spotlight between too many characters. First off, the best part: the main couple. The dynamic between Hori and Miyamura is very fun and interesting to see. The main attraction of this relationship is how different they are in personality, and also how much their first impressions of each other are proven to be wrong, as they become more comfortable with each other, and reveal parts of themselves that nobody else gets to see (sometimes literally). It's not written in a overly cutesyor cheesy way, but it's heartwarming all the same.

While there's a host of supporting characters, I have to shine the spotlight to Hori's family. His dad, little brother and mother are not only entertaining on their own (especially the very former), but seeing how they're intertwined in Hori and Miyamura's relationships is incredibly satisfying. The way they're so quick to welcome Miyamura to their family is wholesome to see.

Midway through the series, the anime starts introducing/fleshing out other characters' relationships and such, and I think this is where the anime starts to get very inconsistent in quality. None of them are as interesting as the main couple, and their presence takes away screen time from Hori-Miyamura. Not to mention also making the anime feel quite bloated.

Despite that, there's still entertaining moments spread out through the second half, and getting through it all is worth it at the end of the day. Horimiya is pretty close to becoming my all time favorite, but it is what it is. I do think that Hori-Miyamura is one of my favorite fictional couple relationships ever.
