(MAY CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS) The concept of this anime a great one and it had the chance to be a truly unique masterpiece. But that was as far as it went. With a world like this, they had every potential to go towards a real and (somewhat dark) post apocalyptic survival tale but instead they chose the direction that appeases younger audiences, turning everything into a monster hunting 'game'. Instead of delving more into the backstory, they solely focused on the idea of 'bug bad, must destroy' throughout the whole series, which was a major wasted opportunity. It is also one of those 'if you have the heart, everythingis possible, including gaining skills and strength you never trained hard for because protagonist do not need such things, or just shout and charge into a group of monsters because you are the protagonist and while everyone else dies you will not' series which has been way overdone and brings nothing exciting nor original to the table.

Its inconsistencies also did not help with the series. Mostly in scriptwriting, world's physics and the art style between both worlds. Characters were bland without conviction with Natsume having inconsistent reasoning in thought and behaviour. The only remotely interesting character was Kabu.

All in all, it's a decent but somewhat frustrating watch, a series that could have been so much more. It's okay for an one time watch and although I get that this is an original animation (kudos to an interesting concept), it's overhyped.
