Review of Sword Art Online

This anime frustrated me to no extent. I genuinely cannot explain to you the rage I felt after finishing this anime. Let me explain to you why very simply. This anime has everything going for it. The concept of this story was AMAZING. The plot was so unique to anything else I'd ever seen. I was so excited to watch this and experience the hype it was getting. I was quickly...ridiculously disappointed. I felt as though they had ruined a great concept with really shitty characters and story lines. THIS is why I'm frustrated. This anime had so much potential to be something great but everythingabout it was just so bad.

The characters are so unlikable and generic it was hard to even keep watching. The most interesting character to me was Klein, but he has about 10 minutes of screentime in the entire series.

The main character is your typical main character who winds up beating everything in his way without much of a struggle. There was not much character development in him either, he was overall just super generic and boring.

The art is again, nothing special. It's your typical anime style, nothing about the animation was special either.

The opening is probably the only enjoyable thing about this show. I still listen to it sometimes not gonna lie.

However, the absolute WORST parts of this entire series is how I felt like I was reading a weird fan fiction rather than watching a good anime. Some scenes felt so weird and unrealistic and overall uncomfortable.

I liked this anime when I watched it way back when, but mainly because it was one of the first animes I'd ever decided to watch. Wouldn't recommend this anime to literally anyone.
