Review of Ghost Hunt

I first watched this anime eight years ago, and since then it's been my ultimate favorite. In my opinion it's a hidden gem, and I had been lucky to stumble upon it. The animation might be average but the story is so well written I find myself forgetting about the art style. The main character, Taniyama Mai, is extremely likable and offers a refreshing realistic female character. She has her faults and she embraces them, choosing to improve herself as a person instead of pretending she's perfect. The rest of the characters are all unique as well, and each one is given their moment toshine throughout the anime.

Every couple episodes focuses on a specific case the team of Ghost Hunters are involved in, and each arc provides well researched information for the viewer to understand. Throughout these cases the relationship between all the characters grows and makes it all the more interesting to watch. It's heartwarming to watch as they make the transition from strangers to a team, and witness them push each other to mature as people.

I recommend this anime to anyone who is interested in a supernatural story that has its lighthearted moments. If you find it enjoyable, the manga is even better, and offers more to the story than the anime.
