Misaki Chronicle: Divergence Eve · review
What a refreshing change of pace for an anime series. I can't think of even one anime series based in outer space, where the crew of an intergalactic space station is piloted by enormously endowed hotties. Oh wait a minute...that's not entirely true. There's about a million of those. And Misaki Chronicles is exactly like every one of those series that have come before. That being said, I didn't dislike the series. Misaki Chronicles is the second season of Divergence Eve (which in my opinion was pretty good). The series starts out great, exporing how Misaki ends up joining themilitary and the training she goes through. (Just a side note: Every member of the military in the year 2305 seems to be a beautiful woman with giant breasts and waists the size of my wrist...sign me up :)
However, as the series progresses, it engages in time-space distortion. Tricky subjuct to explain with even the best script and MC is not THAT well written. Some super hardcore sci-fi peeps might have understood what the hell was going on, but they lost me somewhere along the way. And after that...it was over for me.
Story 5
As I stated before, the series had its ups and downs. For the most part when you mix time travel with space mumbo jumbo you had better have some seriously good writters in your corner. Misaki Chronicles didn't have it. It did have a couple suprises though. Spoiler *not all the main characters survive the entire series*...kinda. When people die in a series....it jumps up points automatically because heros die...that's all there is to it.
Charater 9
The reason im giving this series a 9 in character is not becuase MC designed some groundbreaking cool characters. The reason they get a 9 is becuase every main character (woman wise) is completely friggin' georgous. Kick-ass cool hair, breasts the size of small moons, and voices that scream "sex me up". Fanservice galore spills overboard with tight uniforms, nudity, and hotness in every which-way. Some of the girls you like, some you put up with, but all-in-all...fantastic.
Art 8
I love the way this series is drawn. Beautiful colors, orignal (though unrealistic) costumes, the use of shading...all very well done. The small details they put into every inch of each frame is noticable. However, the obvious difference between the drawn cell and the CG is painful. I'm not a huge fan of CG to begin with, but when its not even remotely blended into the frame work, it just drags it down.
Overall 7
Some people might have completely understood every episode and followed the series without missing a beat. Good for you :) For me...the confusing techo jargon they used to describe space situations just threw me for a loop. But i'll sit through pretty much anything for a glimpse of a hot little anime girl stretched out on a bed wearing nothing but her birthday suit :)...and that happens more then a few times :)
