Review of Bakemonogatari
Absolute shit but interesting from an psychological point of view. I watched about half of the entire monogatari series, and thats what i think about it. The story and mystery its awful, i wont get into details because there are a lot of reviews that gets into that but i must say something about another topic. Ill just make a review on the main character. The main character personality is completely unreal. He has many traits which are completely incompatible. IRL an individual so perverted to the point of being pathological like in the case of araragi are in most cases sociopathic, an individual with malignantand sociopathic sexual deviations like him never are so extremely self sacrificing. Its incompatible and nonsensical. If he lived in the US An individual like him would be registered in the department of justice sex offenders list and probably hospitalized in a psychiatric clinic receiving constant treatment. His personality doesn’t make any sense.
The most surprising thing this show did is breaking moral and legal values and not provoking an unconscious repulsion like:
1.-the absolute protection minors(>12) must have from sexual stimulation.
2.-evident and constant sexual harassment including incestuous pathological/deviated behavior on both of his sisters.
3.-Deviated internal monologues which irl are not illegal but absolutely immoral.
4.-Disgusting objectification of women(which is very common in our society, but still not ok)
I dont understand how most people don't have an unconscious repulsion of this show, the author must be very deviated but also an extremely smart and calculating individual that allowed him to write something that rationally its extremely sick and repugnant but emotionally is not considered that way by most people finding it “funny” or even “arousing”. In my opinion its something that actually deserves some deep analysis.
I don't have time to answer most of the responses to my review. Most of them are identical anyway so ill answer to them here.
Common response no.1 : Shinobu and hachikuji are actually adults.
our mind is not literal, it doesn't work that way. Even if you rationally say to yourself “she isn’t a child” or “she is a ghost” you are justifying(defending). Like i said, the author find ways to adjust the context to make it look amicable when it isn't. You have to analyze dissociating from your emotions to look it my way.
Common response no.2: Its satire, its just a joke!
satire shouldn’t be used that way. Satire is a tool of the weak and oppressed, is a way of expressing yourself when society doesn’t listen even when you are right. Like in the 1800s when the opressed proletarians used to make fun of their oppressors when they couldn’t find other way, , making them look fat and ugly. Trying to change little by little. You are very confused, this show is not satire. Satire looks for positive change, there is nothing positive here.
Common response no.3: Its just an anime or a book!
Literature its a reflection of reality, a book is a reflection of the inner thoughts of its author.
Common response no.4: There are real pedophiles out there! You should go after them!
Thats a fallacy. To be precise its of relative privation(not as bad as).
Common response no.5: Its just humor!
Yes i agree it's humor, very twisted humor that is. Ill give some examples.
Rom-com humor is usually very white.
In naruto Jiraiya’s perversion is grey humor.
In gta V when trevor is torturing some dude and making fun of it is very black comedy.
In monogatari an adult touching the erogenous parts and sexual abusing a 11 years old child its black comedy black as coal.
The big difference between GTA V and monogatari its simple, gta doesnt try to hide it making it look amicable. Monogatari hides its and actually looks emotionally appealing when rationally it isn’t.
Assholes response: You dont even know how to write!
English is my second language so fuck off. Lol
Extra:
im not criticizing you or the people that watch this show, im not saying you are a deviant, the only deviant here is the author. Im criticizing him and his work.
