Review of Trigun
Just finished the anime, and I am really confused about whether I like it, or think it as waste of time. Good things about anime - Sound - 9 out of 10 Humor - 8 out of 10 Villains have personality and a sense of decency/gentlemanliness. They are attacking our hero, but not backstabbing him. Villain respects the hero. But they have a disagreement of thoughts, which forces them to fight. The backstory of vash was great. But it was wasted by the "theme" on which the show runs from that point. Theme is explained in details later. Cons - Typical good-hearted, goofy flirty hero who always gets rejected fromgirls but laughs off. I hate such archetypes, as its a fantasy presented from the author to appeal to hikikomori. But considering that the anime is from 1998, it can be considered not too copy-cat.
Talk no Jutsu... Yeah, its trash.
The overall theme is " Does someone has the right to take life? If a spider is just about to attack a butterfly to eat, do you save the butterfly? But saving the butterfly means spider will die of hunger" .
And I don't like this theme. I think its stupid, and even though the show tried to present some good light on the theme, I don't think discussions over such an obvious theme is necessary.
Length - Most of the initial 10 episodes are like fillers, which could have been omitted and characters would have still got required characterization. My biggest complaint with the show is its length.
My rating is 7.5, but gave 7, as the anime already has 8.25 score.
The backstory did had a chance to turn into a very good story
