Review of Durarara!!

Are you tired of shonen anime wherein fantasy action is mainstream? Are you tired of shoujo anime wherein lovey dovey is mainstream? Try this anime.. This anime is like a American television series or any series the is under the slice of life genre.. Well, at first, you can see my point but after watching the other episodes of this series, it will betray your expectations.. There is something in this series. Something that will keep you in the roll watching it. It is like watching a reality based series but at the same time, there are some supernatural elements in the plot... Well, the story ofthis series revolves on a group of people that live in a place called Ikebukuro.. They have their own kind of life and their own back stories.. It is like reality television series wherein the camera does not focus on a single person.. The story focuses on different characters.. If you didn't get the story much or the names of each character you might get lost in the story and find the series boring.. Another thing, in Ikebukuro there are turf wars concerning gangs in different color schemes.. Among the groups, there is this mysterious group called Dollars.. It is one of the main components of the series.. (Watch it in order to get it..)

Here are my thoughts about this series..

Story (10)
Like what I said.. this series does not focus on one character.. There are multiple characters to be looking forward to.. You can not distinguish if they are a main character or not.. Each one of them have their own "Air time" or in basketball "playing time".. (If you get the analogy) Example the story first focuses on Mikado, then it shifts to Celty, then it shifts to Masaomi etc.. At first it is confusing, but for me it is like a mystery manga wherein you will show different characters in a manner wherein the viewers will feel that it is irrelevant only to find out that there is a special reason for the "Air time" of each characters.. (Deep breath... Long huh?) For me, you need to focus on the story more in order to understand it at the same time to have fun..

Another portion that I liked is the plot twist.. The fact that Mikado is the actual leader of Dollars surprised me,, It was like "you got me there" moment.. I didn't see it coming.. I can't believe what I just saw.. I can't believe that some plain normal guy will be the boss of a big time group... That is the magic... That's what sparked my interest.. It is awesome.. I liked that.. That is only one of those kind of scenarios I'm talking about.. Expect to see more..

Art (9)
The artwork is good.. I think I don't need to elaborate it any further..

Sound (9)
The OST and ending are very great... It is not the mainstream OST or endings wherein the beat is very lively of very lonely.. The OSTs and the endings of this series has a pop feeling in it.. Example, Ending 1.. it is pop.. It's new to my ears.. It's awesome..

Character (9)
The characters are well conceptualized.. There is this reality feel.. (Ex: Mikado, Masaomi, Anri) And the fantasy (Celty).. Another thing that is good about the characters is the fact that they can betray your first impressions about them.. Like what I said before, in the middle of the series you will experience "WTF" and "You got me there" moments..

Enjoyment (10)
I enjoyed watching this series.. I enjoyed the mystery feel about the Dollars group.. I enjoyed the plot twists concerning the friendship trio of Mikado, Masaomi and Anri etc. I find Celty hot, sexy and beautiful even though she doesn't have a head... (Are you feeling that too?)

Overall (9)
In my opinion, this is the type of series that will blow up your mind.. You just need patience in order to understand it.. It is very enjoyable.. promise.. You are going to enjoy it.. If you are tired of those mainstream shonen anime or shoujo anime, try this one..
