Review of Neon Genesis Evangelion
About the series... It's really a controversial one. On one hand, there's some great action and animation. On second one, there are some psychological aspects. At one point, the show turns from the cool and awesome mecha-fighting anime to a dark, psychological series where each character must fathom and relive their traumas for reasons revealed in the show. Characters of the show are great - especially all of the pilots have well written backstory and the main adult characters also have some nice lore. The thing that ruins the series completely is the pacing, which is just bad, especially combined with the rough change fromlightness to darkness. Once, there are too much facts revealed at once, and some times, a single frame lasts for 20 seconds. Sometimes, there are scenes that take even ten minutes and show all of the information about the characters as a form of reliving their trauma.
The story and plot is good, but the consistency of it... without spoiling anything, although the episodes themselves are not that bad, the ending might not satisfy all viewers, and after finishing the show, you must watch the End Of Evangelion movie to understand what was going on. If you like very heavy gore and vore, of course. Overall, I liked the series, but it's not for all of the viewers, and especially not the ones expecting a light happy series it seems it is.
