Review of Akira

One of the most BORING AF anime I've ever seen. The art and animation? Great. The sound and voice acting? Great. The story and characters? PATHETIC! Akira is praised for it's high budget animation and cultural significance being one of the first anime to really impress western viewers during 80's anime boom. It really is an artsy movie that is filled with lots of small details literally every scene has characters moving with not a single repeated frame it's incredible how an 80s anime can look this good compared to modern anime. The story and characters didn't get any attention at all, it's a real mess that I don'teven know where to begin. For starters there is way too much going on, it's difficult to follow the story when all you see are gangs shooting each other, army men shooting civilians, blood everywhere, loud explosions everywhere. There is also way too many characters involved and none of them get any actual development. One is a group of revolutionists talking about the revival of Akira, the other is a group of bikers who have no idea what is going on and then you have Kaneda and Tetsuo who have their own rivalry in the middle of all of this.

Nothing here makes me care about Kaneda and his gang, they're all a bunch of loud idiots who don't seem to have any goals or purpose whatsoever other than just fight clowns and chase women I guess. I am actually shocked to see many rate this movie so highly it's really one of the most overrated anime out there.
