Review of Neon Genesis Evangelion

Once I understood the storyworld it make the show better for me. Sadly I had to look up everything to understand what the hell was going on. The show's delivery of its story and lore missed the mark. Ironically I would have enjoyed the Anime more if I had researched the storyworld before watching it. I enjoyed the title melody. It slaps and I knew it before seeing the show.

The show has a weird distribution of fun factor. On average I wanna say a 20 minute run time episode consists of 8 minutes of interesting content, 8 minutes of run-of.the-mill Anime and 4 minutes of boredom. Going through 26 episodes those 4 minutes add up. 26 * 4 = 104 minutes of boredom to be exact. I had great expectations for this show. I suppose I'm underwhelmed. There are great ideas in there don't get me wrong but I didn't like how it's delivered. It actually reminds me of Soulsborne (Dark Souls, Bloodborne) story telling. When you do the research you will learn that there's great stuff in there but its esoteric storytelling doesn't do it justice.
