Review of Fairy Tail

I will keep my answer as brief as possible while showcasing my absolute hatred for the anime. Like it or not fairy tail is heavily inspired by one piece and to some extent by naruto. It has nothing new to offer whatsoever. The story is that there is no story it just is natsu completing the guild’s mission aimlessly without any questions whatsoever. The main objective is to find the dragon that raised him, which he says every other episode but doesn't actually search for the dragon. Next is the characters. Every character has a tragic backstory that never I mean never made me feel bad for thecharacter. When I looked at backstory of naruto, sasuke or gaara, I actually felt something, possibly a bit closer to the character. But nothing of that sort here.

All the characters are simply joyful with no responsibilities or dreams or whatever. They just exist. They do not have any depth. Even after 150 odd episodes I felt Natsu was the same as the guy from first episode. The personalities of characters was just convenient. The main character is dumb (check). The main character eats shit tonnes of food but is perfectly toned (check). The main character gets strong only when someone insults his friends (check). And an incredibly boring superpower(check). Pink haired Natsu’s rival was blue haired Gray. All the girls were busty cause just because. The dumb blonde heroin. The red haired woman who compared to devil who turned out to be a woman who was strong only when fighting Natsu. Same personality just different colours. Every character had an obsessive lover from opposite gender because everyone else does it. By 100th episode the characters had become tedious and annoying.

And dont even get me started on fight scenes. The only word I can describe it is Flat. There were no fight scenes. Just overpowered characters doing wierd ass shit. Which was accompanied by an even shittier humour. Every battle scenes in fairy tail follows this routine:

Heroes meet enemy.
Enemy kicks ass of heroes without breaking a sweat.
Enemy then insults hero’s friend.
Hero gets angry and says some cool but cliched stuff.
Hero shouts.
Hero gets 100x overpowered and kicks villain’s ass.
This is followed by either of 2 outcomes depending on the enemy:

He becomes their friend and gets insanely weak(unless he decides to betray them again which never happens cause now they best friends.)
He is forgotten and is never mentioned again.
The has no challenges and no motivations or aspirations. He is hero because he is the dumbest character that existed in the universe.

The next up is vilains. The villains in fairy tail were bunch of crap who were just same people in disguise and were just evil. They were all just hell bent on doing the same thing without any explanations whatsoever. None of the villains were noteworthy or someone whom I would remember long after I finished the anime. There were no Itachi, or Aizen, or Blackbeard, or Hisoka or anything for that matter. They were just a bunch ambitionless creatures who just existed as a target practice for hero.

And time after time they repeated the same mistake of insulting natsu’s friends. If they never do it then natsu doesn’t get insanely strong and would have never been able to beat a villain.

This ends my rant.

Though there were few good things like the animation and music and happy. I liked Happy.
