Review of CHOYOYU!: High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another World!
A series that had the potential to be good, but they botched so many parts of it that I am compelled to give it a terrible rating. They couldn't decide what type of show they wanted to make. They put over-the-top silly and "tropey" characters in an inekai setting, then out of nowhere brought in: 1. A stomach-turning, unforshadowed, lewd scene where a newly introduced character picks up food from the ground, chews it, then gives it to an MC by way of a saliva-filled kiss, 2. An abomination of a rape scene that lasted far too long, and was so unnecessarily tasteless that it revolted meto even watch it,
3. A blatantly clear predudice against anglo people, by making every anglo person in the show absurdly vile and inhumanly disgusting,
4. A stilted and forced love triangle romance that makes little sense and has absolutely no chemistry,
5. And enough fan service that it almost (but not nearly quite) distracted from the awful mess we were watching.
When the show opened I thought to myself that it was silly, but I didn't mind watching a not-so-serious show once in a while. I liked the plot of some over-powered inekai protagonists overturning an entire society by bringing them into the modern age, and for the first half of the season I actually kind of enjoyed the low-brow humor. But the bottom dropped out pretty quickly, it crammed at least four or five episode's worth of content into one awful rushed final episode, and ended abruptly.
I regret watching this, and I strongly recommend anyone to skip this show entirely.
