Review of Suzume
Makoto Shinkai never disappoints. This must be the best movie I have ever watched in my life. It's one of those films that you carry with you, stays in your head until bedtime. It gives you a new feeling, that mixture of happiness for having watched something so good and sadness for it being over. It's complicated to describe, but it's a very good feeling that I would even venture to say makes you a better person. After 2 years as an immigrant, alone in a country on the other side of the Atlantic, finally coming back home and being able to watch this movie on aMonday afternoon (paying half price!) touched me in a different way. Going back home is always good, and there are always doors that should be closed, while new ones should be opened.
Going back home always brings back new memories. Sitting at the bus stop, I remembered that about 7 years ago, I was in the same place, waiting for the bus to go to some anime convention with my friends. How time flies! It flies so fast that, before you even realize it, you'll find yourself looking back at a past that is getting farther away. Last month, last year, two or eight years ago...
It was a great experience. I totally recommend it. Every time I saw Daijin, especially after (spoiler that I won't give), I remembered of my cats. Both looked very similar to the ones in the movie. I gave them many hugs and kisses. I missed them.
