I have no idea why this movie has such a high rating. The MC, Miyo, is the most unlikable and annoying hyper-active kid in existence. That NEVER changes. Throughout the movie, she basically gets every wish granted to her, despite not really going through hardships that can be taken seriously. Her personal life is barely explained because again, her personal issues are not important enough for even the director to take them seriously. When Miyo finally talks about them to her step mother, they maker her do these retarded goofy faces that is like watching Marvel movies where every fucking character has a pun ready, even inserious scenes. I had zero investment in MC. That is not a good thing folks.

Her love interest (Kento) has slightly more going for him, but is again just a typical anime guy with a barren personality, generic anime looks and life. He even has a friend that's just a copy of him (seriously) and only different because of looks. You can literally copy and paste every anime "generic male" in every such anime and you wouldn't know the fucking difference.

I think the only characters I didn't hate were Yoriko (Miyo's friend), Miyo's step mother and Kento's sister. They actually seem to have something going on, but were never given enough time to develop further (and that would require their own fucking anime without Miyo in existence).

First half of the movie felt like a chore because of the annoying MC, the second half felt like "WTF are we doing Harry Potter now?", completely out of place even with the premise of MC turning into a cat. There was absolutely no need for them to even go "there" since going there served no purpose but to sell the art style in trailers.

I'm trying to keep this short, so basically, this movie is another generic "rom-com" coming out of Japan, featuring school kids as lead actors.

Yeah, no, just no.

4/10 : (4 is for art only)
