Season 2 continues the story, but it is switching up a bit when it comes to the story. While in season 1 the focus was on the fights and then on the emotional aspects (well, for most of the fights at least), in season 2 the emotional parts take the first spot. This feels a bit like the switch in Vinland Saga, where season 1 was cool stuff, and season 2 dealt more on the emotional part, but both being top tier in their own way. Here though, while season 1 was quite top tier in its coolness, season 2 switching to be more emotional, having growth for characters and being like a prelude of introducing characters for the next big arc which will come in season 3, was good overall, but for me at least, quite a few sentimental parts fell a bit flat... from weird decisions that you needed to do mental gymnastics to understand why the characters thought that way, to literally punching through someone and them overcoming their trauma/way of thinking, a lot of them felt a bit too... rushed? forced? And sometimes felt repetitive and a bit drawn out... like you would understand it, the characters would understand it, and next you know, they're gonna talk again about the same thing.

In terms of characters, we get quite a few new ones, especially in the second half, and they are all right, one of them even being one of the four kings, for which you will find out their background and more. I really like the old man's arc tbh. The MC also is getting quite some character growth, and when I was thinking that finally the story isn't always going to be all about the MC and everything seemingly pointing towards him and him being special, in the end, everything points to him... Not a problem ig, he is the MC after all, but it feels a bit wrong to me how it is done, like it is forced or something... Also, hopefully the new characters they introduced and spent quite a lot of time on will have some impact later on, otherwise it will be quite a shame. One big problem that I have with this season is that they didn't spend much time showing Kotoha.... c'mon, we all know she's interested in MC and MC seems to be getting along with her, I want to see them together more! They remind me a bit of Kaneki and Touka from Tokyo Ghoul, even though their personalities are different from their counterparts.

One thing that I have at least seen in the comments is that quite a few people dislike that season 2 went onto the emotional part more, and didn't keep up with the same level of fights as in season 1, and also the fact that a big part of the season was spent together with one of the four kings which is into makeup and stuff... so ig if you're expecting to have the same stuff as season 1, you might be a bit disappointed, especially if you are sensible to the idea of boys being more into what is considered "girl" stuff (one of the arcs is about acceptance of that). So yea, ig be warned of that, wouldn't like if you would get surprised by that and then turn that surprise into anger or something. While I do say this, I do think a bit that a few episodes felt like filler, with nothing worth bringing to the table and some moments feeling dragged on, but hey, I'm here to see a story, if that's how they decided to show it, it is what it is. At least it is a 12 eps core season, so they cannot really pull a Naruto move of filler episodes...

Story: 7 -- The story progresses, MC gets some character growth, we get new arcs and characters, but it is not really as impactful as it could have been made at times on the emotional part which they seem to want to deliver. The messages that they seem to want to tell are a bit forced sometimes... Also the level of fights dropped a bit.

Art: 9 -- While there are still quite a few fights, some of the background CGI made me meh a bit... but at least the main fights still are really good, albeit with a bit of talking between them and pauses...

Music: 9 -- Good music as always

Characters: 8 -- Quite a few new characters for which the anime pays a lot of attention for, but tbh I couldn't really care that much about some no name that suddenly came into the story and now we find out about their struggles and background... at least not presented in that way. Hopefully those characters are going to be used and not just forgotten.... MC gets characters growth at least, but again, not as many Kotoha scenes as I wanted!

Enjoyment: 8 -- I had an overall good time watching it, but I did feel like the emotional part wasn't handled all the time at the same level, and it was fluctuating a bit, and the lows made me cringe or feel meh...

Overall: 8

I recommend this anime to people that still want to see cool animated fights, but are okay with the fact that the story switches up a bit towards the emotional part and focuses on that sometimes a bit more than the fights.
