Review of Solo Leveling Season 2: Arise from the Shadow
I only read the webtoon and not the original web novel. However, the anime certainly applied the flair unique to animation in this adaptation. That alone makes this a recommended watch for the webtoon readers because the adaptation added something new to the overall tapestry of the story. Yes, and I mean the jiggle physics of Cha Hae-In's chest. That alone is enough reason to watch it. This way, it doesn't feel like a rehash of the webtoon. Aside from that, I really liked how it adapted the emotional reunion between Jin-Woo and his mother. It was handled superbly. Enough to stifle a sniffle or two. This isthe best webtoon adaptation. Better than God of High School, the only other one I have watched to completion. This actually got a second season. This allowed the production staff to pace the work properly and apply those aforementioned animation techniques and produce a work that gives justice to the source material. That is most evident with the sakuga of the climactic battle between Jin-Woo and the ant king. This allowed the season to end on a high note with an extended epilogue that teases future big bads and several cameos.
This was a great season, and I hope it portends to better adaptations of webtoon properties at the hands of capable production staff. I rate for the watching experience and enjoyment. I certainly did get that in spades.
