Review of The Rising of the Shield Hero

The sole reason I have rated this anime as a 10 was simply because of the first episode. The first episode was, for me atleast, masterfully crafted. I had gone into the show knowing nothing and so when the betrayal happened I was not only shocked but also angry. It felt good to watch the first episode. However, the show only went downhill from there. Just detoriorating from episode to episode. [Spoiler] Once Naofumi got his revenge, the show then just became boring. There was no conflict other than the dumb wave things going on. The show suddenly became this thing which tries to makeNaofumi this infallible god that is above everyone else, while the other heroes are shown as dumb (spear hero) or just incompetent (the other two.) This constant placement of Naofumi in the moral high ground kind of took away from what I had liked about the show to begin with, and that was the pure injustice that was dealt to Naofumi. And how he dealt with it, how he reacted to it.
But when suddenly, the entire country just completely changed their attitudes towards him, and everything just went right for him, cause hurr durr MC. It did not sit well with me.

There were other good things, I liked the art, kinda liked the openings.

Fight scenes were not the greatest, they were just OK nothing impressive like other animes. The Isekai fight scene quality that quite the norm for the genre for some reason. The story attempts to be deeper than it actually is, with trying to create this heir of mystery around it. Knowing how things end cause I read spoilers from the webcomic, it isn't actually any good.

TL;DR... First episode good, the rest is mediocre.
